Most watch brands ask you to believe in something before you look at the watch.
A country. A century. A name with enough history behind it to justify the price. Makydo takes a different position entirely.
Every watch we make starts from one question: what would this be if every decision made for the wrong reason were removed? No trend-chasing. No element there to impress on paper rather than on the wrist. What remains is the proportion, the finishing, the movement, the way it sits. Sometimes the answer is engineering. Sometimes it is a dial colour that has never quite existed before. What never changes is the asking.

When I started Makydo, I kept coming back to the same problem. Most watches in the market had become technically competent but creatively hollow. You could take the dial off one and put it on another and barely notice. At the other end were homages: watches with no identity of their own, borrowing everything from designs that already existed.
I did not want to make another version of something. I wanted to make something that could only be Makydo.
So I set a rule from the beginning: every element had to earn its place. The form, the movement choice, the strap, the tools, the packaging. I chose movements because they were right for that particular watch, not because they looked good in a spec sheet. If something did not genuinely improve the experience, it did not justify the cost.
I also thought carefully about what happened after the box was opened. The packaging had to be worth keeping. The tools had to actually work. The details that do not photograph are often the ones people notice most.
That was the standard I set out to hold Makydo to. Original, honest, and considered all the way through.
